Would you believe?

Would you believe that six days after coming home from Brazil Ron bought tickets to go to Mexico?

Would you believe that we had a few hours to pack before leaving, so we could drive to Las Vegas that night and fly out in the morning?

Well it's true.

We were going to celebrate our ten year anniversary in Baja California in San Jose del Cabo. Very close to the more famous Cabo San Lucas where we spent one day.

Leaving Cedar City.

         Las Vegas is in sight!

              Board the plane.

         Then the next plane.

First view as we drive to the hotel. I did not think it would be so desert-looking, I was a little disappointed. But it was December, and the sunshine was delightful. And first impressions are not always permanent.

The weather was still a good temperature and beautiful things still grew, like this plant out front of our hotel.

Many hotel rooms are basic and almost dull. This room was great fun. It was spacious and they never could settle on just one color. Or even three.

We walked across the street and this was the view while we ate dinner. This part of Mexico was far too much like the US in stores and prices and people who spoke English. And this little corner of the world had an odd vibe to it. I'm not quite sure how to explain it.
But there were many pleasant moments.

We couldn't stop eating the ceviche. We had it almost every day.

Our first view of the beach. We made it right as the last light was falling down like a heavy curtain. The waves were so loud, it was startling. They were crashing, booming, slamming down, making a bold statement. They didn't feel angry, but they were roaring wave after wave.

Chilequiles are another of my favorite foods from Mexico.

I loved the classic cacti that were all over.

This beach was very different. The waves smashed around with a viscous rip tide. The crashed and dashed close to the shore line with a vengeance.

After a decent walk we came across a wetlands kind of area.
There was only a small sandbar between the marshes and the ocean.

The water was so fantastically blue.
