Lost in the moments

I have become a hokey person. I'm that woman who says that you just have to believe. The more I lend faith to the idea of magic, the more magical things happen in my life.
Today was about bus rides in quiet Costa Rica regions. The bus took up a big portion of the narrow roads which narrow down even more when a bridge appears. I live in a country where there are one lane bridges but not one way streets. Pura vida. I live in a town where we can show up at the bus stop and there is a machete sitting on the edge of the bench. A few minutes later and a guy says: oh, yes, that's mine and comes to pick it up. The bus comes and he brings it with him. This is not uncommon. People here use machetes all day long. Yard work, construction, opening up a coconut to drink from it, and more.
We took an hour ride into The Big Town of Nicoya. It's ninety percent shut down on a Sunday, so it was a peaceful day. The weather was perfect, not hot enough to melt my brain like last time. There was a bit of a furnace feeling in those few minutes when the bus is being loaded up, before it starts moving and the air starts flowing through the windows.
Then it's home to go walk on the beach. Sunset and moonrise are at the same time. A very big full moon tonight. I thought about how easy it is to be deceived by words. Especially since they are open to interpretation on both ends. So pictures would be better. But things can be deceiving with the eyes also. Can I post a video to this blog? I'm not sure. If I could then you could also hear my experience as we walked home in the light of the moon, and there was a sound that can only be heard in the break between the chorus of waves constantly cresting. I see the moon, so I understand it a little. But what does the moon sound like? It sounds like a mirror reflecting the sun. There is no good way to describe what the moon must sound like. It's so magical when I walk along the small waves of a super low tide and see them dance in the light of the moon beams. It seems like it should make a sound when the light hits the water and puts on a display. The waves are dancing, there must be music somewhere. I need to close my eyes and open my ears.
What does the moon feel like? It feels like a darkness that is no longer dark. It feels like a breeze on the skin and the ocean lapping at my toes. It feels like a shift in gravitational pull as I stand far from the usual shoreline of people and places and gaze across wet sand that glows with earthly reflections on top of second hand sunshine
The magic of nature was followed by the magic of friendship. A phone call, and off we go to collect some dinner. Someone has extra lobster tails to send with us, already cooked, they had extra, take them home while they are still warm.
A day in town with Mom and Daughter is wonderful. A full moon on the beach can be spell-binding. Follow it up with unexpected lobster tail and it is the stuff dreams are made of.

If I lose myself to an empty beach then I can find another quiet part of myself that was waiting for me to listen.

Civilization behind me, the salty water and stars in front of me.

Connect with Nature. Wet sand. Warm breeze. An open palette every evening. Life is good.

Dear Moon, you light up my life. Thank you for your many contributions to the romance in my life.
